Despite being one of the best performers in the Premier League this season, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard has been left out of the team of the year, to much controversy.

Although there has been much debate over who the Premier League’s best player is over the past few years, there really is one name that continues to be considered one of the top contenders – Eden Hazard. Despite the Belgian superstar continuously scoring incredible goals, providing assists, striking fear into every opposition he comes up against, and carrying his Chelsea team on his back, he continues to be disrespected by Premier League fans. The disrespect went far enough on Thursday, as it was revealed that Eden Hazard was omitted from the Premier League team of the year, despite being far and away one of the most consistently brilliant performers, who is far more deserving of a place than the inconsistent Paul Pogba.

Many have argued that the team of the year formation is a 4-3-3, which allows only 3 spots for Hazard, while Aguero, Mane, and Sterling are more deserving of it due to their league positions. This of course, is utter nonsense, as the PFA could easily have made the formation a 4-4-2 to fit Hazard in over someone like Pogba. The formation is something that isn’t set in stone. Also, the level of Hazard’s team can’t be considered a deciding factor either, as Pogba’s Manchester United is an even worse team, yet he has managed to grab a spot.

Also, this seems even more ridiculous when you consider the fact that Hazard was nominated for Premier League Player of the Year, but Pogba was not.

It seems that players like Hazard – the nimble, technically gifted sort, have been continuously misunderstood in England. Many have criticized Hazard for not scoring enough goals in the past, but let’s not let Messi and Ronaldo’s ridiculous goal tallies give us tunnel vision – you don’t have to be scoring 30 a season to be brilliant. In fact, he has more goal contributions that any other player in the Premier League this season, despite playing for an extremely underwhelming Chelsea side, with hardly a proper striker to play off of either.

At the end of the day, Eden Hazard is comfortably the best player in the Premier League, based off of impact, consistency, and genuine talent – the 3 factors that matter the most in this sort of conversation. Look no further than how highly the Belgian is rated outside of England, compared to players like Aguero and Mane who aren’t talked about or feared nearly as much.

Next. Hazard or Ronaldo? Who was the better Premier League player?. dark

Eden Hazard’s omission from the Premier League team of the year is nothing short of a disgrace. It’s simply disrespectful to one of the best players England has seen in a long, long time, and despite him playing for a sub-par team, his impact is as big as anyone else in the league.
