Yes, they should be ranked first because of the flawless showing but the team taking the top spot did the unthinkable and Liverpool completed formalities.

Liverpool had the easiest opponents of the lot (according to the world of football) and did exactly what they were supposed to… Give the other team no chance to come back and surprise with an upset. The Reds were a goal conceded away from completing the best performance of all English teams. All teams in the running, in fact!

Two goals in the first encounter and another four in the next were enough to confirm the previous finalist are coming back for what they let slip out of their hands last year. The one goal let in was nothing more than a consolation goal and perseverance from the Portuguese side, who really got thrown in the pit with a European monster.

The Reds have placed themselves as favourites to come out on top against Barcelona in the next round. That’s unheard of but it’s the truth. The Reds have eclipsed their group stage form and have their front three releasing a fatal blow with every strike almost.

They placed second in Top Flight Power Ranking.
