Maybe a surprising choice at number 1, but when you look at value for money, I think Joao Moutinho was the best piece of transfer business done last summer.

Wolves paid just five million pounds to bring in the Portuguese midfielder from Monaco. Just five million pounds for a player who has played in the Champions League for years and has won the European Championships with Portugal. That’s an incredible piece of business.

And Moutinho hasn’t disappointed on the pitch either. Alongside compatriot Ruben Neves, Moutinho adds style and serenity to the Wolves midfield, retaining possession and driving his team forward.

He has racked up eight assists already this season, and Wolves fans will remember his excellent goal at Old Trafford for years to come.

What a player, and what a signing.
