It is a battle no one thought would be going on this late in the Premier League stages. All hangs on the line for both, Brighton and Cardiff City.
The Bluebirds fly over to the Seagulls’ coop, Falmer Stadium. The holding has been far from pleasant in recent weeks, but coming up against Cardiff could change all that. Both teams share something in common, and that’s a consistent run of poor results.

Talking things Brighton
Brighton was the worst team of the weekend, going down by five goals to Bournemouth while having no answer back. They’ve freshly just endured an FA Cup exit by the hands of Man City and since their valiant victory over arch enemies, Crystal Palace they haven’t made any sort of headway in their Premier League survival.
To add to this, the hero of the Palace win, Anthony Knockaert will be unavailable for selection in this one, after a brain-dead challenge in their previous defeat. Big problems for Chris Hughton in this one.
The home side has only taken two clean sheets from the last ten outings they’ve gone on. Cause for concern? Yes, surely that and Chris Hughton should be sweating in every crack of his body. They’ve now gone three games without a point and are facing a four-game losing streak. Brighton is nowhere near the team they were at the start of the campaign.
The visiting team Cardiff City
As the Seagulls face a run of four losses so does the Bluebirds. Cardiff has gone three games without a victory and faces the fact this could be their last shot at a Premier League stay. Five points separate them and their hosts this evening, with the hosts bragging a game in hand.
If they are to make any move up the table, they will have to take three points in this fixture. They must be relishing the chance to take on Brighton tonight, after such a heavy loss over the weekend.

They have key players ready for battle and should take advantage of the Seagulls who had their wings clipped and are flying blind at the moment. A proper relegation fight on our hands. Neil Warnock also believes his job with the Welsh side is safe. He better start doing something to prove he is the best man for the job with tonight’s results being the perfect place to reinstall the fans faith in him.
