Not the performance of Messi versus Ronaldo quality but certainly a showing providing enough evidence they take the top spots for best signings of the January transfer window.

More from Leicester City

In Friday night’s meeting between the new Premier League men, Miguel Almiron took the show over Youri Tielemans. The two were every present on the pitch but it was Miguel’s liveliness that helped his side get the three points.

Both never registered a goal or assist but were involved in most moves going forward. Almiron’s work rate with Ki Sung-yueng was superb and paid off. Youri was kept quiet for some parts of the game coming the closest to an assist. Wistfully, Vardy was off target on the night.

The Paraguayan came the closest of the two to score a goal in the game. He took four shots at goal with none of them hitting the back of the net. Tielemans was the better man with his distribution of the ball. He had a pass accuracy of 87% in the game.

Although, Almiron’s display in defence and in attack sees him win the head-to-head battle. With his arrival, Newcastle has completed the job and Premier League survival looks three points away from being a reality.

But the contest has lived up to the hype and was a pleasure to see two players become an immediate impact for their respective clubs.
