A plan executed to perfection by Ayoze Perez and co. They secure a Premier League stay after a slender 1-0 victory over Leicester City.

The Rodgers honeymoon is officially over after his four-game unbeaten run comes to an end with his first home defeat as the Fox boss. Rafa’s plan to be efficient and use the little chances they created paid off once again. A three-game winless run ended in the finest way conceivable. Three points to assure their Top Flight stay for next season.

The other thing that has ended is the “Vardy Party”. No goal for the forward, although coming close on two occasions. The Foxes were not as sharp as they were prior to the Friday night clash, and were dreadful in front of goal. No joy from the 12 shots taken at goal by the home side.

The Magpie who scored the only goal of the game (Ayoze Perez) was rightfully awarded the Man of the Match accolade. Perez and Rondon exposed Rodgers’ men on the break on countless occasions. They too were careless in the final third and could have gone up by more when Leicester pushed more men forward.

The header by the Spaniard was near impossible to finish. An inch-perfect nick was enough to guide it home, beyond Kasper Schmeichel. A goal that was worthy of three points.
