This would be a major success for the Old Trafford side and is the most important signing to be made.

Name one of the central defenders in the Manchester side who is actually world class? I’ll wait for your blank list. They are in need of improves at the back and need a player of Raphael Varane to come and take the lead.

Another World Cup winner, Champions League winner multiple times, as well as a La Liga champ. The man is a winner and United need winners! The current situation at the Santiago Bernabeu could see Varane move on from Real Madrid, in search of a new challenge. He has contract talks going on with Real and if he doesn’t sign, Ed Woodward must step in.

The price tag for him should be in the £100 million mark, seeing Virgil van Dijk went to Liverpool for £75 million. The two are rated as the best centre backs in the world. Van Dijk and Alisson Becker have provided a lot of change at Anfield showing a lot of money wisely spent, can go a long way. Raphael will be worth every penny.

Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling are just not good enough for United and are squad players at best. His best partner of the four would be the Swede, Lindelof. The support needed for David de Gea at the back is easy for the naked eye to detect. The next transfer on this list provides enough evidence that United’s improvement is needed at the back, more than up front.
