Champions League: Ranking the English Premier League teams after Flawless showing
Five goals in the first game and seven goals in the next. Safe to say we knew there would be many goals, but the weight of seven on Man City’s side of the seesaw was unimagined afore the game kicked off.
Pep certainly got his men ticking all the right boxes in this one. The first match was kind enough to make for a better return leg after the scoreline ended 2-3 in Germany. That’s what we thought, yes. However, once on the pitch inside the Etihad everything went downhill for Schalke.
Pep’s men wasted no time and made no friends on the pitch. Stellar performances from the men in front allowed for a seven-goal tally with no answer back from the opponents. Man City did send a message to Europe and the message was clear, they are the best scoring team in Europe.
They managed their highest scoring game in a knockout phase, making their own history as Man City. This has also allowed them to take the title on as the most likely team to take the Champions League trophy this term.
