Premier League Power Ranking – Tough Call for Matchday 29
Since we missed The Top Flight Power Ranking of the previous matchday, Matchday 28 to Matchday 29, let’s just take a look at the change in form over the space of a few days.
There have been two matchdays since the last Top Flight Power Ranking of the English Premier League, Matchday 28 and Matchday 29 – including a full week of European action. Every bit of action was calling for a heart attack somewhere. Too much late drama and angry moments led to another supporter’s happiest days.
Of the two, Matchday 28 takes the title for the most entertaining of the two playing days. 29 goals scored on Matchday 28 and a fewer amount of 23 goals on Matchday 29. Two matchups impressed with five goals or more! One of the biggest results was the London decider.
Matchday 28 Power Ranking (Midweek fixtures)
1st Place Huddersfield – Recorded their first win on the day and did so before Brighton in the new calendar year. The Seagulls registered their first over the weekend thereafter.
2nd Place Chelsea – A top six London derby between a disgruntled Chelsea side and a misfiring Spurs set up for one for the books. Chelsea took all the spoils and did so with Spurs scoring the winning goal for the Stamford Bridge side on the night.
3rd Place Liverpool – a sturdy performance from the Reds. They took the team of the week from Matchday 27 and pulverised them to one of the worst teams for Matchday 28. Five goals scored passed them with no reply. The stuff of runners-up or possible champions?
4th Place Arsenal – The second team of the weekend to hit five past their opponents on the night, but failed to keep a clean sheet in the fixture. A masterful display by the Gunners regardless!
5th Place Man United – Not the best result but under the conditions of not having 10 of your first teamers available for selection while having a low self-esteem striker lead the line and score a brace. Nothing short of amazing from Ole and his Red Devils!
