Chelsea turn their attention to Europe on Thursday night when the UEFA Europa League enters the Round of 16. The Blues will look to continue their good run of form away from domestic football. The competition could be Sarri‘s last opportunity to bring silverware to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea Europa League Favourites

The bookies make Chelsea Europa League favourites for a reason; the club has strength in depth. Chelsea’s European form has been excellent this season, with seven wins and a draw from eight games. The Blues can put their domestic problems to one side when they host Dynamo Kiev at Stamford Bridge for the first leg. The 15 times Ukrainian Champions have won six of their last eight games.

Sarri is under pressure to deliver results and to show that he has not lost control of the Chelsea dressing room. The attrition rate in the Chelsea dugout is high. The club has appointed 18 managers since the turn of the century. The current boss can respond to his critics with a good run in Europe.

Chelsea and Kiev previously met in the Group G of the Champions League in 2015 when a late Willian goal secured a narrow 2-1 first leg advantage for the Blues. The second leg finished 0-0 in Kiev.

Chelsea added the Europa League trophy to their list of honours in the 2012/13 season, when they beat Benfica 2-1 in Amsterdam. Another victory in the competition will be well received at Stamford Bridge.
