At the moment, it could be raining all over the world but in Manchester, it’s currently storming! Alex Sanchez is the next player to make the long United injury list.
It’s as if the footballing gods are against the Norwegian and him getting the United job. That, or they really putting him through the paces of trying to overcome near-impossible tests. In a time where he needs his second set of starting players to step in for the first-choice men, they’ve also now picked up injuries.
Ole’s absentees have risen over recent weeks. After the Champions League Round of 16 first leg against PSG, Man United has been knocked countless times with several injuries to important players.
It seems nothing has improved after their breathtaking 3-2 win over Southampton leading into their second leg match in Paris. Alexis Sanchez was forced off in the second half of the game against Saints.
The worry of him being out for a lengthy spell has been validated by the manager just before their UCL fixture. Ole Gunnar confirmed that the Chilean will be out for about four to six weeks. Meaning the caretaker boss will be without, Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata, and Ander Herrera, and now Sanchez as well for several weeks.
This would have been his time to shine
The timing of the injury couldn’t have come at a worse time. This was a time the forward could have used to get back into the fold and lift his game. However, now with him out, his United career hangs even more on a thread.
With Lingard, Martial and Mata out, the opportunities are ripe for any forward to come and take the batten from any one of those three. Sadly, this could set the tone, his career at Old Trafford is finally over.
Taken from Sky Sports:
"It was a bad knee injury, so it’s four weeks or six weeks. Hopefully he’ll recover quickly."

What can Ole do in his absence?
Exactly what he has done ahead of his Champions League clash with PSG. Take a handful of academy players and let them prove themselves on the big stage. Could any player in a United jersey possibly do any wronger than Alexis Sanchez has done in his miserable time at Old Trafford?
Ole has taken eight youngsters with him from the United academy. This is about the only option now that two transfer windows have passed. You never know the gems you’ll end up finding giving your youth a shot in the big leagues.
Man United comes up against PSG on Wednesday night in their second leg of the Champions League. They must overcome a 2-0 deficit in Paris. The odds are against them, especially with their big injury list.
