Premier League: Manchester City or Liverpool – Who Wins the Title from Here?
The Manchester City squad are experienced winners, and that plays into their hands in this title race.
There is no doubt that experience plays a part in title races, not just in the Premier League but everywhere. The experience of the coaches and players can make or break a team, and this Manchester City squad is full of winners that bring plenty of leadership to the squad. This is an area that Man City blow Liverpool away in. Every single player in the Manchester City squad has won a Premier League title apart from backup goalkeeper Arijanet Muric and fringe centre-back Philippe Sandler, with the majority of them tasting that success last year. However, the likes of David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany, Riyad Mahrez, and Fernandinho were crucial parts of winning sides prior to last season. Liverpool on the other hand, have just 2 players with Premier League titles, James Milner and Daniel Sturridge, and 2 players with titles in other top 5 leagues, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri. Manchester City is far more experiences, and that plays into their hands as crunch time befalls us.

As I mentioned before, Man City have just 4 home matches remaining compared to Liverpool’s 5, and 3 of their last 4 matches will be played away from home. Although it is a small margin, this could prove to be crucial as Manchester City are the best home team in the league, but are worse away from home than Liverpool are.
The Cityzens also play the same number of top 6 teams as Liverpool do, although their Manchester Derby clash with Manchester United will take place at Old Trafford. With United playing great football and the Manchester Derby often dishing out surprises and stalemates, City could be in for a shock.
Sergio Aguero has been in unbelievable form of late, and with hat-tricks against Arsenal and Chelsea, he has skyrocketed to 1st place in the scoring charts. Aguero could be on pace to win his very first and very much overdue Player of the Year award. This is likely to come down to his contributions in these final 9 matches, so he better be motivated!
All in all, Manchester City have a tougher schedule than Liverpool to close out the season, but with a one point advantage and a squad full of past winners, they do have quite a bit in their favour as well. It’s bound to be a tasty title race as the Premier League winds down, and as of right now, the chances of winning between Liverpool and Manchester City are basically deadlocked at 50-50.
