Brendan Rodgers makes his return to the Premier League this lunchtime when the Leicester City manager heads back to one of his former clubs. 11th placed Leicester take on Watford at Vicarage Road.

Leicester’s New Chapter

The former Liverpool and Celtic manager hasn’t had long to get acquainted with his Leicester City players.  Watford comes into this game on the back of a heavy 5-0 defeat at Anfield. Leicester will look to build on their 2-1 midweek win over Brighton, and a win today will be a welcome boost to morale. Leicester fans are looking forward to a new chapter in their club’s history. A top-seven finish is not out of the question for Leicester, but the trip to Watford is tough, as explained by Rodgers in his press conference.

"As a manager, it was my first job and it was always difficult for any team to go to Vicarage Road. We’ll expect a tough game, but I’m really looking forward to it. via lcfc.com"

Leicester’s new chapter will be shaped by a manager who has won consecutive domestic trebles with Celtic. Rodgers’ latest challenge at Leicester City provides another opportunity for him to make an impact in the Premier League.

Rebuilding

The first task for Rodgers is to rebuild the belief of the players. Claude Puel eroded player confidence with an unwanted brand of negative football. Celtic fans have accused Rodgers of leaving their club for a mediocre one, a statement that Rodgers has denied.

Rodgers looked full of confidence and enthusiasm when he took part in Leicester’s training session.

The Foxes will be under the spotlight, the club’s fringe players have got 10 games to impress their new manager. Leicester’s development squad lie fourth in the Premier League 2. The young Foxes were on a good run, they’ve since lost back-to-back games. It will be interesting to see which players can break through into the first team under Rodgers, who gave his initial thoughts on his current crop of players.

"For me, coming in at this stage of the season, [I will] assess where we’re at over these last remaining games and see where we can look to improve. via lcfc.com"

Looking ahead

Leicester have been shy in front of goal this season. Jamie Vardy is the wrong side of 30, he’s still got plenty to offer the club, finding his successor will be a tough challenge.

One player who could fit the bill at the King Power Stadium is Celta Vigo’s, Maxi Lopez. The 22-year-old Uruguay international has scored nine goals in 22 La Liga appearances. Transfermarket value the forward at €35m.

Leicester’s new chapter looks promising. Watford have their own ambitions of a top-seven finish. The Hornets won’t make Rodgers’ Leicester debut an easy one. Leicester have won the previous two meetings without conceding. The bookies’ price Leicester at 12/5 for the win.
