Was an action-filled match when Leicester City welcomed rapid droppers Brighton to the King Power Stadium for a beating. However, the Seagulls were far from taking it laying down.

The home side strutted their stuff in front of their new boss and took an early advantage to help ease the tension in the ballpark. From the first whistle to the final whistle, Leicester dropped a gear and ran full out.

In the space of all this going on, one has to admit that Leicester City was lucky not to concede more than one goal, or have a vital asset sent off for a reckless challenge on Davy Propper. Rodgers had the stadium mesmerised so much with his presence, even the officials missed some influential calls on the night.

Young man Demarai Grey latched on to an exquisite Youri Tielemans‘ through ball and hammered home a vigorous shot for the first goal. This one came as early as the first 10 minutes of the game.  It was the only goal scored in the first period but that’s not suggesting Grey’s goal was the only action. No, there were so many chances that went begging it was unbelievable to consider these players get paid to play.

Two goals from either side in the second half came within three minutes from each other. Jamie Vardy missed a sitter and then buried the next without a second asking. He was followed witha  Propper goal in the 66th minute for Brighton.

All ended as is and Leicester City finally took some points from a fixture. Well, all the points to be precise.

Heading into the weekend

Chris Hughton sits on the edge of a cliff losing his grip on things. His side was the fastest droppers and are still in search of three points after the year turned to 2019 from 2018. They now sit equal on points with Southampton, the team who’s just escaped the bottom three after Matchday 28.

Besides this, they sit two points afar (or near) to the closest drop spot held by Cardiff City. Their next match is a winnable one, but the opponents look in better shape for the next event after their win over Wolves.

Leicester City is savouring the idea of Brendan Rodgers and his first game in charge at the club coming the weekend against Watford. The team who just went down miserably by five goals to Rodgers’ old club, Liverpool. The Foxes sit in 11th place and are hot on West Ham and Everton’s heels.
