Leicester City owners show further ambition after their inclusion of Brendan Rodgers. Reports propose they are ready to splash out £200 million for his transfer dealings in the summer.

I have to admit, this sounds all too familiar when I hear the words, “Brendan Rodgers offered £200 million for transfer kitty!”. During his trophyless run at Anfield, this was the usual tune FSG spat in the direction of the fans. So it could be a dodgy affair in believing this right off the bat.

After Leicester took all the points at King Power Stadium on Tuesday night, the new manager got straight to work and began his training with his new squad. Pictures of him and his assistant, Kolo Toure were captured over the past few days.

Since their title-winning campaign

More from Leicester City

Since the Foxes won the Premier League title in 2015-2016, they’ve come vastly short of winning it again. During the time when Leicester City won the league, the rest of the powerhouses were not at their best and were mostly changing hands in management.

This is why it’s understandable they haven’t come close to it again. All the top-six sides have invested big and acquired a better run of games throughout the seasons following Leicester’s triumphant one.

What’s changed since then?

It’s safe to say the managers in place at the club since the departure of Claudio Ranieri hasn’t been of enough quality to reach the same heights as previously done. Let’s face it, the Italian came with loads of experience and caught the league by surprise.

Now they have a manager who’s inched ever so close to having his hands on the title. An experienced boss with an appetite to score goals and play fast, free-flowing football. This will be the first time Leicester will need to adapt to a different style of football.

The fans are used to seeing long balls being chased down by Jamie Vardy. They are used to seeing towering headers coming from set-pieces. Now that is all about to change. If rumours are true and Rodgers receives the £200 million, he will bring in some good names to suit his style of play.

There are already talks of a big summer clean out and at the very top of the list of big money moves is Callum Wilson from Premier League club, Bournemouth.
