Everton made it over the line quite comfortably against home side Cardiff City. The perfect goal-return before an important Merseyside derby.
Swept aside by three goals was the events of Everton completing formalities over the Welsh side. Neil Warnock’s men deservingly get dropped into the relegation zone after a chain of bad outcomes in results.
Silva must be delighted with his Toffees’ performances around the pitch. Not only did his side manage to score three and keep themselves goalless, but they also catapulted themselves straight into the top 10.
The battle between 10th and 17th place has been unstable and we’ve seen different teams near relegation peril and then clear themselves from the depths of hell. Well, thankfully for Marco and his men they have taken the latter option after their three-goal winnings.

The Bluebirds kept their hopes alive for a large part of the first half. Cruelly, Gylfi Sigurosson was in the mood and scored a late first-half goal to give his side the lead. Silva and his men went into the dressing room with the pressure relieved from them, making for a calmer approach to the second half.
The midfielder wasn’t done for the night and 15 minutes into the start of the second period, he doubled his tally, giving Everton a satisfactory two-goal lead. The last goal of the game came from Everton cult hero, Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
He scored a late 90th-minute winner, that made sure of Everton leaving with three points.
Warnock has all sorts of problems
The homes side has now dropped six points in back-to-back games in the English Premier League, and this was done in Wales. Over the last two fixtures alone they have conceded eight goals. They’ve now kept their poor record of only winning two games in their last eight games, going.
The Welsh side must now go on the road and search for points after going down twice at home, a few days apart. Their trip comes up against a Wolves team on a downer. Hopefully, they can rub salt in the wounds of the Wolfpack, after their hiccup against Huddersfield.
Marco Silva’s men finally broke their duck of a possible fifth consecutive loss. They still have a lot of work to do and seem to be a lot sharper after their rest they received during the FA Cup fixtures.
