What to expect inside Stamford Bridge tonight when Chelsea welcomes Spurs for a top-of-the-table clash? Spurs need to make up for lost ground in the title race, while Chelsea must overcome backstage drama.

Every month it’s a different case for Mauricio Pochettino and his men, they one month in the race and then the following month, back out of it. Each time they come within touching distance of the other two frontrunners, they trip over their laces and tumble behind.

At this time of the season, this is not the form you want to be showcasing. They’ve always been in the running and taken the back route in an attempt to creep in for the title. So they should be able to handle the pressures of fighting Man City and Liverpool for a Premier League gold medal.

The hosts again. Boy! They have a whole other examination to master with their little bust-up over the weekend past. The question all are waiting for Sarri to answer… Will Kepa be dropped from the number one spot for tonight’s mammoth event?

Both Chelsea and Tottenham are recovering from sore losses over the weekend past. The former, a cup lost by egos flaring and players turning into managers in under five minutes. The latter were stopped dead in their tracks by a stubborn Burnley side that crippled their hopes of closing the gap between them and the leaders.

This has left both teams searching for a win on the bounce back, giving us the impression this one will entertain with non-stop, combat.

Team news from both ends of London

It appears Maurizio Sarri’s side has come out the stronger team from the cup clash over the weekend. They have no injury scares according to their manager, who is yet to decide on Kepa’s near future.

The job is harder for Sarri now to decide who comes in and plays for him this evening. He will have to choose the crowd’s team or his failing team. Let’s hope he’s learnt from the weekend what side suits his style best.

The visiting team comes in with two major setbacks. Dele Alli, who has been missing for a couple of months, along with Eric Dier, who should just be absent for this fixture.

Who’s been the better of the two?

An easy answer for this one, Tottenham. Mauricio sits somewhat comfortably in third place while Sarri’s men fight to reach their goal of a Champions League spot.

In the last five, Chelsea has only picked up six points from the 15 points that were available to them. In this time the Stamford Bridge side has conceded 13 goals. Not a stat the Blues fancy going against one of the top scoring sides in the Premier League.

Next. Man City meets old boss Pellegrini and his Hammers. dark

Spurs’ better run consists of one loss in five, and that came over the weekend to the Clarets. They’ve taken 12 points from the 15 up for grabs. A far finer run than their foes for the evening.

Going with a Chelsea win in this one… Why not!
