Shocking moments from the first whistle to the final. All expected the most attacking team in Europe to go up first, but not many saw them going down by two goals before the halftime break.

The cards, the goals, the decisions made, every aspect of this fixture was exploited. This inevitably drove VAR to pick up the Man of the Match accolade. Even though the home team earned the most from VAR’s decision, they still travel to the Etihad as the losers and with a lot to do.

Two goals in the second half secured the advantage for Pep’s men. One from Leroy Sane straight after he was included in the game – which was also the best of the week. The other, a 90th-minute match-winner by Raheem Sterling.

This has allowed City to edges Liverpool and Man United in the power ranking in the Round of 16 First Leg. Even more so, they did this with 10 men on the pitch. Only Pep Guardiola has magic tricks like these up his sleeve.
