The Champions League first leg in the Round of 16 has completed and YESSIR, what a first leg it was! All but one English club did the business on the pitch. Nevertheless, things are never over when there’s still game time to be played.

The Champions League Power Ranking is back and there’s no better time to bring back then now. Controversy? Check! Late drama? Check! Were there goals and stalemates? Definitely! Winners and losers? Fortunately and unfortunately, yes!

Then I believe we were treated to proper European action over the two weeks. Tottenham, Man City, and Liverpool all attained positive results and have a firm chance of heading into the next round. The one team who has the David and Goliath prospect is Man United. All the work to do in the next leg for the Red Devils.

This Round of 16 the teams hit a low count of 18 goals, with seven teams failing to score. Last season we observed a mountainous count of 27 goals, with only five teams folding in front of the goalmouth. The major difference between then and now? Three games were gifted with four goals or more in the last campaign.

Two games ended without any goals scored in this low-scoring affair. This is where the most surprising display of the night came, Barcelona’s goalless trip to Lyon. Besides them; Bayern Munich; Dortmund; Juventus; Liverpool; Lyon and Man United all failed to register a goal.

Bad form or stiff competition? A lot of both. All-in-all, it was an excellent start to the Champions League Round of 16!
