After Matchday 25 the Englishman, Raheem Sterling hits a mark many thought he was never worthy of before today. Sterling writes his name in the record books after aiding in Man City’s victory over Arsenal in the title race.

There’s only one reason he gets stick from one part of England and Merseyside. Other than him snaking his way out of Anfield, I cannot for the life of me understand why the rest of the league hates the winger, Raheem Sterling.

If you holding onto a grudge because you a Liverpool lover, I would say it’s completely obvious. However, if you deny this City player his talent, you might as well reevaluate your footballing knowledge.

I’m sure it’s safe to say, if Sterling was from Brazil or Spain, he would have had a better time with the media and fans around England. But playing in England, for England, and underperforming for them at the same time, has met its fair share of criticism. In saying this, Sterling’s time at Man City has been prolonged by his outstanding, and rapid improvement under Pep Guardiola.

Sterling’s rise to become a centurion

When Raheem Sterling waved goodbye to Anfield, it was met with questions. He came in the time of current Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini, who was the manager of Man City during the season of 2015-2016. He joined for a then-expensive fee of £49 million.

After just joining forces with the Etihad outfit, Sterling struggled to hit the ground running, giving us the impression he wouldn’t be there any longer. Following his move, Man City finished a miserable fourth place. It was the position that ultimately saw the end to the Pellegrini era and the start to the Pep dynasty.

It was sure he was going to get the boot, with Pep always looking outside for talent. However, the two formed a great understand, with Guardiola helping Sterling reach heights exceeding all of our expectations. It hasn’t changed since. HIs first was a stepping stone for both, the player and Pep.

dark. Next. Man City's next contestant Everton

The next, the two reaped the rewards of persistence winning the English Premier League title. This season it has been a bit different, but different cause it’s been harder fending off challengers for a gold medal.

Nonetheless, in the wake of this fight, he has been ever-present and willing to fight with his teammates, helping them in the push for their second consecutive Premier League championship. Sterling has scored 10 goals and assisted a further nine in the EPL. This has led the forward to reach the distinguished feet of a centurion!
