With Watford fighting hard for that coveted 7th place Premier League spot and Brighton in 13th place, you probably would’ve expected the Hornets to come out on top in this one, or at least be the dominant side.

That was not the case, as Watford had just 44% possession and even worse, didn’t manage to get a single shot on target. It was a woeful performance and they were extremely lucky to come out of it with a point, as Brighton played quite well and had 4 times as many shots as Watford. Perhaps the absences of key midfield figures Roberto Pereyra and Abdoulaye Doucoure were to blame, but this performance will worry Javi Gracia nonetheless. Brighton’s midfield and wingers were superb, most notably Solly March and Pascal Gross, but their usually reliable front-man Glenn Murray was unable to convert the chances given to him.

Burnley 1 Southampton 1:

As Southampton keep rolling under Ralph Hasenhuttl, they find themselves far more difficult to beat. This was evident in their draw against Chelsea and win over Arsenal last month. Turf Moor though, is an extremely tough place to play, but the Saints held up quite nicely. The match was an exciting one, even, open, with both sides getting multiple chances to score. It was Nathan Redmond who opened the scoring, marking his return to form in a big way. Redmond struggled mightily under Mark Hughes, and along with the likes of Jan Bednarek and James Ward-Prowse, has found his top form once again. Unfortunately for the Saints, a late Ashley Barnes penalty ensured that the points were shared.
