English Premier League: Liverpool’s travels to West Ham will prove testing
Monday Night Football brings about Klopp and Liverpool’s second response in as many weeks. Question is now… Will the Reds react better this time?
The first of Man City leading the way came last week Wednesday when the Reds played the night following City’s loss to Newcastle. What happened was some of the expected, Liverpool didn’t take advantage in a situation screaming that they would have a firm grip on the title.
A slip by two points gave Klopp and the Reds a five-point lead at the summit, and the not the seven points they would have loved. Now comes the second of four tests where the Reds follow the Citizens, and a tough act to follow it will be.
Pep’s men secured three points when they beat Arsenal by three goals to one inside the Etihad. The distance between the two title contenders has decreased to two points. We wait and see if the Reds are the best title contenders for Man City in the past two seasons.
West Ham before hosting the leaders
Many of West Ham themselves believe the Hammers are getting nothing out of this fixture because of the Reds form over December and now. That, and if they are to take anything from their own performances, they have nothing going for themselves.
They have won two games, lost three and drew one. Their most recent efforts have seen them lose back-to-back games against, Wolves and Bournemouth, conceding five goals with no response. This all after losing their key figure Marko Arnautovic to injury.
What they can look forward to is the fact the Reds have tremendous issues at the back. This supported last week’s result when the Reds drew for only the second time this season at Anfield. Other than that, concentration and 110% effort.
Liverpool’s problems on route to London
Klopp’s men have relished the chances when playing the Olympic Stadium. They’ve scored 16 times in the last four meetings between the two, with the Hammers only scoring twice. What exactly is this saying? There is nothing that suggests they are mentally prepared to face the Reds.
The Reds are without Joe Gomez and welcome back vice cappie, James Milner after his silliness two weeks ago after he received two yellows that inevitably led to a red. This is a positive for the team who lead the pack in the English Premier League.
We will get to see how well they can do under these different pressures they are experiencing in their challenges each week in the event for the Premier League title.
