This past weekend was the most recent round of FA Cup play. Here are the results and implications of these results for the remaining top six Premier League clubs.

The FA Cup may not be the most exciting tournament in Europe, yet it still counts for many clubs both large and small. Many complaints of the tournament’s lack of magic have been retorted with haste.

There is something of purity to the concept of this tournament. Providing rather small and financially inferior clubs with the chance to put themselves on equal footing with those playing first division football.

The opposite can often happen, as many a time an EPL club will unconditionally trounce to one of the clubs playing in lower divisions.

With five top-six sides and a wide array of EPL teams remaining, the weekend lived with much promise and it indeed did not disappoint.
