Getting back to the basics, and that’s the English Premier League. The FA Cup interruption has thankfully brought us some midweek events in the shape of Matchday 24.
Welcome back to the most entertaining league in the world, where we have two teams four points apart in a battle for the summit of the Premier League. Some teams play for European spots, Champions League or Europa, and others compete for dear life in the 24th instalment of the English Premier League 2018-2019 campaign.
Six fixtures play out featuring 12 teams in some Tuesday night action. Starting from the top of the table we only have Manchester City playing of the two fighting for the EPL crown. The first time since playing each other, will the former champs be applying the pressure on the Reds.
A chance to shorten Klopp’s lead to one point is on the cards if Pep’s Man City complete the task against Newcastle. Rafa’s men pulled off a stunning victory over relegation challengers, Cardiff City. The Toon Army needs only to draw the fixture, so stopping the visiting champions is the only goal for them.
Tuesday’s lineup of fixtures
Arsenal vs. Cardiff City
Fulham vs. Brighton
Wolves vs. West Ham
Huddersfield vs. Everton
Newcastle vs. Manchester City
Manchester United vs. Burnley
Arsenal and Manchester United play in must-win clashes, respectively. Sitting on the same points and in the hunt for a Champions League spot. The Red Devils are on a rise and the Gunners are licking their wounds from their recent defeat to the team they battle for fifth place.
Unai’s men take on a sad Welsh side at the Emirates, with United taking on a Burnley side, exhibiting a similar resurgence. United on route to get their eighth straight win and the Clarets on course for a run of five games unbeaten. This, despite their FA Cup 5-0 defeat to Man City.
Wolves and West Ham battle in an intriguing mid-table contest. Only three points separate 7th place and 12th, with Wolves and West Ham in between those two slots, a point apart from each other. Wolves come off the back of a victory in a seven-goal thriller, illustrating a never say die attitude. Whereas West Ham, a disappointing no-show against a strong Bournemouth.
Tuesday’s lineup of fixtures
Arsenal 3-0 Cardiff City
Fulham 2-2 Brighton
Wolves 2-0 West Ham
Huddersfield 1-0 Everton
Newcastle 0-2 Manchester City
Manchester United 3-1 Burnley
The other mid-table team out on the pitch later this evening is Everton. A club showing massive problems at the back, especially in set pieces. They take on Huddersfield, one of three teams fighting the gruelling relegation fight. Important to have look at this tie, as they play their first match under Jan Siewert.
The third and final team from the drop zone is Fulham. They take on a strong Brighton side, but only strong. Nothing suggesting the Cottages can’t take all the points. All they need to make sure of is scoring in the opposition’s goalmouth.
