Divock Origi: Liverpool says no to Wolves for the sale of the frontman
Klopp and Liverpool have already lost two players in the month of January but look as if they’re done with players on the way out. This, after stopping the transfer of Divock Origi to Wolves.
Some of Liverpool’s stars or players with world-class are feeling the boredom of sitting on the sideline. It’s been extremely hard for players such as Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi, and others to get game time or a string of starts.
To get in the team ahead of any of the front three for Liverpool has been a near impossible task. With all of them always finding form at crucial times in each campaign, players on the bench have only seen time on the pitch, if an injury occurred. With them out of two of the four tournaments they compete in, chances are even less again.
One can’t argue with Klopp’s decision to continue to do such, as the Reds performances and league position speaks for itself, and speaks volumes may I add. If they were not gathering the points or getting the right results. Then surely the manager is right by not making any personnel changes to the starting 11 on more frequent bases.
Klopp’s style and way of working with his squad are done by giving any and all a chance. If they take the opportunities, they get their stay. If they don’t they must either be prepared to wait or think about moving on. Klopp allows it all.
Currently, Divock is in the plans
He was one of the most promising talents after the 2014 World Cup and was a hot suitor for most top clubs. Brendan Rodgers was the lucky man who brought the young Belgian striker from Lille to Anfield.
However, the manager got dismissed and the player never reached the promising potential he showcased at that 2014 World Cup. His best performances as a striker by far. Origi was offloaded in a loan spell to Wolfsburg the season afore this one.
After returning to Anfield, it hasn’t been easy for Divock. Although… The striker’s first chance to make a difference in Liverpool’s title-challenging campaign was something that went down in the Reds’ history books. Scoring the only goal in the dying seconds of extra time in the Merseyside derby formed part of the Reds flawless December.
Since the inception of the season, many clubs have been aware of the frontman’s situation at the club. Wolves being the most noticeable of all. After scoring against them in the Wanderers’ FA Cup victory, the feelings and links between Origi and Wolves resurfaced.
He’s not for sale… Yet!
Still trying to make sense of the loan move of Nathaniel Clyne to Bournemouth but the transfer on Dominic Solanke makes all the sense in the world. Even to the extent, Liverpool has now stated that Divock Origi is not for sale and is still in the plans. Letting go of another target man is not smart, just like the Clyne transfer and using Milner and Fabinho as a fullback.
Divock has scored twice and assisted once in the time he’s played. This expresses the man’s importance to the club. Sturridge, as we know, is just an injury risk or a walking injury. The Reds have to keep the Belgian in the ranks.
