Liverpool loan Nathaniel Clyne to Bournemouth – Neil Warnock’s crying
And then there were four… Four Liverpool players going from blood-red to cherry red and black stripes. Or is it black and cherry red stripes?
Nathaniel Clyne joins the list of ex-Reds to take leave from Anfield and join Vitality stadium. In a matter of hours, Eddie Howe obtained the services of both, Nathaniel Clyne and Dominic Solakne from Liverpool in one day.
Some argue Liverpool pulled off the better business of the two, receiving in the region of £19 million for the latter. But at his age and the fact Howe has been able to bring out the best in players like Callum Wilson, Ryan Fraser and others, it could be the biggest £19 million steal ever.
With Clyne following, the business looks even better. Even though there’s some problems at the back, Klopp still offloaded a player of the fullback’s quality. There were many reasons behind why he said yes to both transfers.
Klopp’s reasons for selling Solanke
Solakne was on route to Palace in a deal that saw him there till the end of season. But the offer from Bournemouth was too much and made more sense for all parties involved. There are just too many forwards ahead of Solakne.
Firmino being first choice, Salah taking the role as the number 9 in Liverpool’s second formation and the likes of Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge all getting the nod ahead of Dominic. Over enough juice to give reason for him moving on now, rather than later.
Reason for Clyne leaving
Clyne has seen the sidelined for quite a while leading up to the transfer to the Cherries. In last season the right back only made two appearances coming off the bench, equalling 10 minutes on the pitch. This season wasn’t any different with the Englishman only making one start and a late entry.
With Clyne’s chances limited and him behind first choice, Trent Alexander-Arnold and others, James Milner and Fabinho, there is no way he was getting into this team without a string of good performances.
Warnock’s cry for class
Neil Warnock was adamant and convinced Nathaniel Clyne was on his way to Wales. Shamefully, he was pictured with Cherry stripes not too long after the Bluebirds’ manager was caught saying he wanted the right back in his ranks.
He accused Liverpool and Klopp of “lacking class”. If I was a player, Cardiff City would be the last choice, if not, no choice at all. Bournemouth shows more promise and if all work’s out for Clyne, he doesn’t have to worry about being at a club fighting for survival.
