The young English striker takes leave from another top club. This time to a place where he could feature more often than not.
Dominic Solanke makes the decision to take leave from Anfield in a bid to get more game time on the pitch. At first it was just a loan deal and Crystal Palace was the known destination. That was afore the window opened.
Move on a couple of days in the new year and the Cherries are a new striker heavy to the value of between £17 million and £19 million, as reported by the club and other outlets. This represents better business for the team selling, rather than the team doing the buying.
Liverpool have pulled off their third transfer between them and Bournemouth. Eddie Howe has taken Brad Smith, Jordon Ibe and now Dominic Solanke in. Out the lot Dominic comes with the most promise and comes at a time Chelsea a show big interest in one of their forwards, Callum Wilson.
Even though the Englishman shows more potential than the other two ex-Reds, Liverpool still have managed unbelievable business by selling the 21-year old forward by so much. The striker started the preseason off in emphatic fashion just after joining the Reds last season. This was backed by his contribution in the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup where he was awarded the Golden Ball award for being the best player.
He scored in all of the games from the quarter-finals to the finals of the tournament. This was enough for the Liverpool public to accept him and make Klopp trust in the transfer of him. Since the time of golden pledge before the 2017/2018 campaign kicked off, it hasn’t really worked out for the frontman. He made a total of 21 Premier League appearances, only managing a goal and an assist.
That was coupled with three Champions League showings coming off from the bench. Not what was expected by the U-20 World Cup Golden Boy. So what happened next was the inevitable. He moved on with a surprising permanent deal after the Palace move fell through.
All the lights flash green with this deal. Solanke moves on and gets a fighting chance for more starts. Liverpool make the kitty bigger for a bigger name, if that’s what they after. Chelsea makes money and Bournemouth gets another English striker, who could be a big hit in a club doing wonders at the moment.
