English Premier League: Everton with the most inconsistency this season
Another loss where you’d think Everton was surely the better side and should be taking all the points from the opposition. However, it’s been Chris Hughton’s Brighton showing solid consistency.
It was a hard-fought 1-0 ballgame at the Falmer stadium. Shots at goal, the same between both teams. Possession stats? Everton just about edged Brighton with 56% of the match ball at the feet.
This is how close the encounter was and proved it took one opportunity to take all the points in the game. Everton could have done with a draw and thought they were home free. However, the woodwork and everything else in front of the ball was taking away their chances.
A moment of madness and a small glimpse of fortune set Jurgen Locadia up for the match winner. The game had little to no talking points besides the one lasting moment that was worth three points on the day.
Everton display Silva’s weaknesses
Everton have been a far better version of themselves than what they were last season. The question before the campaign got underway was if they were worthy of a spot on the higher end of the English Premier League table or just mid-table good?
Now after sitting a couple of times in sixth place, the tune changed and words uttered were different to if and that Everton deserves a sixth-place finish. I did not and do not feel they deserve this. Inconsistency and Everton have gone hand-in-hand and before they are deemed top-six quality, I would rather give Wolves that title over them.
The whole of December saw the Blues disappoint to the highest level. A loss in the Merseyside derby at the hands of Pickford. A couple of draws and then a win, a disgusting loss, a massive win, and a silly loss. If that’s not intermitted, then I don’t know what will be.
Brighton on the other end has stunned most by going from fighting relegation to sitting comfortably on the top half of the table, they must just continue to play and work towards a Premier League stay. Great ending and first half run by Brighton and more of the same, please.
A new journey to the expected destination for Everton after 2019 kicks off.
