Fulham and Wolves lead the way in the English Premier League. Boxing Day brings us Matchday 19 and some testing trials and the start of today’s lot is a battle of the promoted.

Two teams far apart in terms of form on their return to The Top Flight, are Fulham and Wolves. The former, already a manager sacked and new man brought in to save the season. The latter, the best of the three brought up from the Championship.

The Cottages have it all to play for. One point from the last four matches and sitting dead last gives this home side little confidence heading into this fixtures. They play a team who takes points on a regular, and will fear the same is about to happen.

A silver lining in all this dung field Fulham have situated themselves in – is that Claudio Ranieri’s men accomplished their first clean sheet in their most recent fixture, when they drew a stalemate against Newcastle.

They’ve let in 42 goals this season. So that clean sheet is as motivating as three points. Continuing with this and hope that the star-filled attacking lineup can match a possible clean sheet, and this London side will be back in business.

A home clash at the Craven really counts in their favour. Aleksandar Mitrovic is important to the Cottage cause and was handed the armband for the 90 minutes. They have every chance to get out of the last spot. But they must earn it and lead with a win.

Are Wolves favourites for this?

Wolves spent money well and are showcasing how much they’ve missed the English Premier League. A big hill had to be travelled by Wolves, but they got out and place a healthy 10th on the EPL table.

Nuno’s been on a massive high of late. One loss in their last four and nine points taken from the 12 offered, with Chelsea and Liverpool being two of those four opponents they faced during the busy festive season.

Next. How times have changed from Rodgers to Klopp. dark

They are firm favourites but will struggle to take points away from Claudio’s team. I’m going for a strong Wolves showing and a win.
