So then there were four… Four teams left to battle it out for Carabao Cup gold as we reach the semi-finals of the EFL Cup. Nothing Surprising besides the little, tiny, black horse, Burton Albion.

It’s been more of the same from the previous EFL Cup holders who go one step closer in defending their title. They’ve grown to like this cup and could be putting the City stamp on it if they were to be crowned Carabao Cup gold medalist again.

Along with this double run by City, if Pep’s men managers to do it again, that’s four seasons back-to-back, the English League Cup has made Manchester its home. Succesful Manchester? Yes, definitely so, even if its blue and not red.

Three big hurts and one little team from League One. So this season’s cup has a bit of everything. A favourite, a defending champ, a team searching for elusive silverware, a maiden man and real under dogs. WOW! Start writing a book, this could be Burton Albion’s year.

The semi-final fixtures

The semi-finals of the Carabao Cup took place not too long after the last two games of the quaterfinals concluded. Great thing about this, Burton will get two tries at taking that big step towards the final.

A bit of a big pill to swallow knowing the next test is almost impossible. But try they must in a cup nobody gave them a chance in. They have epitomized the meaning of what it is to be Premier League team killers. Will they continue or fail to a City team, whose love for this cup has grown inseparable?

Chelsea gets to play Spurs’ revenge card in their meeting. Whereas the other, a real David versus Goliath re-enactment to the T. Two legs could count heavily in favour of Burton, who must work ever so hard against a team miles ahead of them in personnel and quality.

Chelsea and Spurs – may the best London team win!
