Unlike the first, this one had all the action unfold in the second half of the 90 minutes played. Not a chance of a close contest as West Ham played one of their best attacking game.

The man who takes his tally to four for the season was on target twice for the Hammers. Unfortunately, this came at the price of losing forward Arnautovic to an early injury. It worked out though.

Lucas Perez led the way after being brought in after the 40th minute of the match. Scoring a brace in the space of five minutes was all Pellegrini needed from his men to keep control of the tie. Michail Antonio joined in on the fun and added a third to the Irons’ tally.

It was only in the dying minutes of extra time that Cardiff added to the scoreboard. Terrible for the Hammers to lose their clean sheet so late in the game and exactly the type of problems they need to get rid of.

The star of the show was Filipe Anderson once again. Starting to really strut his stuff now as the season plays on. West Ham get closer to the top and appear to be climbing instead of dropping. Cardiff sit and wait for Wednesday night’s events to take place.
