It was a tough night on Wednesday. A walk against the wind, with little movement. However, movement in the wrong direction on the table. All while the other keeps their own fate in their hands.

Definitely one for the books this Matchday 5. Liverpool struggled to contain a determine Parisian side. Three points was all that was played for by one team, where Klopp took the approach of holding the game off – begging for that one-point draw.

Inter went to Wembley with the same initiative when they took on Tottenham. But Mauricio recently got his groove back with a sound defence and a bit more precision in front of goal. Spurs game was edgy cause of the stalemate about to take place. Whereas Klopp’s men had a cagey affair where going down was actually a tactically point towards all the points.

But that is according to Klopp though.

More from Champions League

There’s still so much work for these two clubs to do on Matchday 6. They must work hard till the end of the group stages to reach the same feet as their two Manchester counterparts. Spurs’ route to the Round of 16 can be smooth, they look like they getting back to their best. Liverpool’s climb is a steep one, worthy of a prize if they cross the finish line.

What happened and where it leaves the two English clubs?

Let’s start at the bottom and work our way up. Liverpool’s failed trial on Wednesday started with team selection. Once he got it wrong, the match started off incorrectly. The home side front three were all over the Reds defence, giving them no rest on the ball.

Due to this relentless start of PSG, Liverpool fell victim to two goals in the first half. This was not to say the Reds were poor, but their new defensive approach to the game has seen them lack in taking big games away from world-class opposition.

A second half penalty led the game to a better ending, but remained 2-1 till the final whistle. Besides the theatrics on the field Neymar and Mbappe were brilliant on the night. Many questions about game-changing decisions on the night – But that’s what football’s about! They sit third and must win Napoli by two goals, without conceding one.

The BIG T  that is Tottenham and Mauricio

Was a quiet game, with conservative action. Inter wanted a draw and knew the Spurs were on a high. But big things came when big changes were made – game changes to be exact. Goalless till the 80th minute of the game, but thanks to a substitution made 10 minutes prior to that – Spurs grabbed an important goal worth three points.

Probably go on in saying, Pochettino made a substitution nobel of a place in the knockout round, perhaps. It was all smile for the Argentine before the game, it was the same after the game.

Next. Arsenal and Chelsea pick up where they left off. dark

Spurs sit in a strong second-place position, but only on goal difference. Although, in saying all this, Spurs task and opponents are a team who’s yet to drop points this Champions League run, Barcelona. This will give Inter a lot of determination in their easier face off against, PSV Eindhoven.

The fight will last till the end of the final whistle on Matchday 6. Does English teams possess the quality to overcome Italian teams? Or, has the Vatican bestowed luck and prayers upon the Italians in need of qualification?
