If the weekend’s results are anything to go by, then we are in for one crazy night of Champions League football. Three points for either club and they’d have one foot, or two into the next round.

It’s Matchday 5 and we are two games away from where all teams are fighting to be – the knockout stages of the Champions League. Besides City saving their elite status, no team other than them are safe from elimination.

Although, in saying this, tonight’s fixtures that involved Pep’s team in blue and Jose’s men in Red, their chances appear to be better than the next two who play tomorrow evening’s late shift. The Citizens travel to Lyon in search of revenge for their first meeting, when Nabil Fakir singlehandedly, knocked the home team around.

Group F Match-ups

Lyon vs. Manchester City
Hoffenheim vs. Shakhtar Donetsk

Group F standings

Man. City: 9 points
Lyon: 6 points
Hoffenheim: 3 points
Shakhtar Donetsk: 2 points

The other enjoys a home clash against the Young Boys, or not enjoy a home clash? Taking the weekend’s miserable showing against Crystal Palace and their previous Champions League victory away from home – you’d really wonder if a home game is the one they need now.

What can we expect from two teams displaying day and night from each other. Day being the most beautiful sunrise Mother Nature has to offer. Night, a time where zombies rule the land. Exactly the way some United players have looked like on the pitch.

Group H Match-ups

Manchester United vs. Young Boys
Juventus vs. Valencia

Group H standings

Juventus: 9 points
Man United: 7 points
Valencia: 5 points
Young Boys: 1 point

What to expect later this evening…

Jose and United’s task an easy one no matter the form you struggle in or thrive in. You just have to be beating teams in their maiden UCL run. However, keep in mind what happened to Liverpool a fortnight ago.

Juventus and Valencia’s tie works heavy in favour of Jose. A loss for the visitors against the Old Lady, and United are set for the knockout round. As simple as it sounds, is easy as it gets for the club playing with all eyes on them, waiting for the next slip up.

Match predictions for tonight

Lyon 2-2 Manchester City
Manchester United 3-0 Young Boys

Their noisy neighbours are in the drivers set once again. But if there’s one team ready to take it all away from this world-class City team, it’s Lyon. City’s worst they can do is reach the knockout stages as the runners-up in the group. A clear passage has been set by the team showcasing the best form in the English Premier League, and arguably in the whole of Europe at the moment.
