With the tragic passing of Leicester City’s owner, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, it seems right to reflect on the greatest moment of his ownership: Leicester’s stunning, improbable title win in 2016.

As Han Solo famously quipped, “Never tell me the odds”.

Going into the 2015/16 season, Leicester were tipped by many to go down. They managed survival the previous season by the skin of their teeth, engineering a stunning turnaround in form after being adrift at the bottom of the table from November to mid-April.

Manager Nigel Pearson, who many credited for the change in fortunes, was sacked in June 2015, after a series of off-the-field issues.

To replace him, Leicester brought in experienced Italian manager, Claudio Ranieri. The appointment was widely mocked. Ranieri had endured a horrible time while managing Greece, getting sacked after only four months in charge.

Leicester were favourites to win the race to sack their manager, but 5000/1 long shots to win the title.
