Champions League: Tuesday night’s events involving Liverpool and Tottenham
It’s Tuesday night and that means one thing, it’s time for European action. Two teams Tuesday has Liverpool and Tottenham playing in their respective groups, C and B.
The second round of group games begins later this evening. Of the two English teams playing Liverpool takes part in the earliest match against Red Star Belgrade. Spurs follows in the late slot, where they could take three points for the first time this Champions League run.
Group B fixtures
Inter vs. Barcelona
Tottenham vs. PSV Eindhoven
Group C
Red Star vs. Liverpool
Napoli vs. PSG
In saying this, both teams have their personal reasons to win their individual fixtures this evening. As said previously, Spurs has a chance to take all the points here. If they win and the other result goes in favour of the Lilywhites – their lifeline in this esteemed cup carries on into the next fixture.
Liverpool fly high in the group round. First place after Matchday 1, third after Matchday 2 and now first again, ahead of Matchday 4. It’s all up to them to continue at the top of the group. Liverpool’s first of the second phase is a team they should be killing off with ease.
In the reverse fixture the Reds gave them little hope inside Anfield, scoring four times with no answer on the other end. But this time around both teams square off in different scenarios.
Group B
Barcelona – 9 points
Inter Milan – 6 points
Tottenham – 1 point
PSV Eindhoven – 1 point

The difference for the two English clubs this time around…
Spurs get to enjoy this important fixture at Wembley stadium. Last time out, they managed to balls up three points, while losing their first-choice stopper to a simple red card. By simple I do not mean easily. Hopefully this will not cause a major dent in quality and Mauricio’s men live to fight another day.
Thee other Group B tie, Barcelona travels to Milan, Italy. All of Spurs are in favour of a Barca win or a draw, sharing the points inside the San Siro. God saving the queen is the last of his worries. He needs to keep a keen eye on Spurs and add a hand in the result over in Italy.
Group C
Liverpool – 6 points
Napoli – 5 points
PSG – 4 points
Red Star Belgrade – 1 point

Tottenham 2-1 PSV Eindhoven
Liverpool’s scenery has a whole other look to it. Napoli only managed a draw in this taunting stadium. That alone tells you about the surroundings and what Klopp’s men are up against this evening. A repeat of the Reds scoring four goals with no replies? Can’t see this happening.
A loss cannot be an option. They are able to set a steady pace for the other two who play in a fixture later the night. Both Napoli and Liverpool have the chance to do the unthinkable, and that’s make PSG’s trip to the knockout phase, a missed opportunity.
