It’s been an extremely difficult time in the English Premier League for all. One team more than others, as we all mourn the loss of Leicester City’s owner, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.

The English League has hit a low point. Probably the lowest point in the last two decades. The alpha Fox has left us and now is the time for broken hearts to heel. In the sadness of it all the show must go on, although it’s sometimes too difficult to overcome such tragedy.

Matchday ten’s last fixture comes at us in the shape, size, and form of Monday Night Football. Besides being the only action to be thankful for, the two teams playing this evening entertains us with a top-six dispute.

Tottenham welcomes Manchester City to Wembley stadium in a fight for three points. Spurs’ had some favouring fixtures leading to this one. They’ve been on the money with victorious results over all of them. It’s only when it’s come to European fixtures that Spurs haven’t been anything like a top side in a major competition.

Pep’s men on the other hand, are exactly where they need to be as they mount one of the best title-defending campaigns this decade. Unvanquished and exhibiting almost the same form that won them the title, previously.

Current situations involving the two…

Tottenham

  • The home team sit in fifth place with seven wins and two losses, on 21 points
  • They’ve scored 16 goals, conceded 7, and have a goal difference of 9
  • They’ve not dropped a gear since their loss to Liverpool four games ago
  • A win moves them up a place ahead of their North London rivals and a loss keeps them out of the top four
  • They are yet to collect points from this fixture in the last four meetings

Manchester City

  • Unbeaten for the season – no surprise in this
  • They’ve only failed on two occasions to take all the points from fixtures involving Wolves and Liverpool, respectively
  • They lay in third position in the English Premier League, but with tonight’s game in hand.
  • A draw pushes them up to second, a win puts them level on points with Liverpool but in first place, because of their superior goal difference.
  • The sharks of Manchester City own this fixture and they own Wembley, where Pep is fruitfully successful
