Man United 3-2 Newcastle

After 45 minutes, Jose Mourinho being fired seemed like an obvious decision with Manchester United down 2-0 against Newcastle at home. The Red Devils conceded two goals in the first 10 minutes, the first time they have ever done that at Old Trafford in the Premier League. Kenedy and Yoshinori Muto each got their first goals this season in what looked like would be Newcastle’s first win this campaign.

But not so fast. Manchester United brought back time and engineered an incredible comeback in the second half to win their first game since September 19th. Juan Mata, a sub, scored a free-kick to cut it to 2-1. Anthony Martial equalized after some great passing between himself and his French teammate Paul Pogba.

Who would score the winner? Not Fellaini. Not Lukaku. Not Pogba. Alexis Sanchez did it. The Chilean’s winner might have bought some more time for Jose Mourinho and Manchester United.

United’s aggressive attack paid off in the second half in the game of the year thus far in the Premier League. It looks like Jose Mourinho is safe after reports yesterday suggested he would be fired regardless of the result. Man United have a big next two games after the international break with a trip to Chelsea and then hosting the best team in Europe, Juventus.

Newcastle United is in horrible shape with a blown 2-0 lead added on to what’s been a dreadful start to 2018-19. Rafa Benitez and his team will host Brighton & Hove Albion still in search of their first win.
