English Premier League: Power Rankings after matchday seven
By Orri Benatar
Last Match: W 2-0 vs. Southampton
Next Match: SAT at. Crystal Palace
Amazing. I never thought a newly-promoted team would make the top five of my power rankings but here we are. Wolverhampton Wanderers have simply defied the odds and their expensive spending over the summer has paid off a lot more than Fulham’s. Wolves is right in the mix for the top-six and a win against Palace could propel them to that spot. It’s possible with 6th playing 7th and 8th playing 11th. Fun times for Wolves.

Can’t stop. Won’t stop. Arsenal just keeps winning and Sunday’s match against Fulham will be a chance for the Gunners to get their ninth consecutive win. You know this team is different when the top strikers are scoring goals, Mesut Ozil is playing well, and youngsters like Matteo Guendouzi and Emile Smith-Rowe are playing great in the Europa League. The present and future of Arsenal is in good hands.
Last Matches: D 1-1 vs. Liverpool & W 1-0 vs. Videoton
Next Match: SUN at. Southampton
The Eden Hazard dependency is very real for Chelsea after a draw with Liverpool and a tight win against Videoton in the Europa League. While Alvaro Morata did get the goal, Hazard made the impact in the second-half getting five key passes and completing 32 of his 38 passes. The unbeaten run is still alive and well for Southampton on Sunday.
Last Matches: D 1-1 at. Chelsea & L 0-1 at. Napoli
Next Match: SUN vs. Manchester City
The really hard schedule for Liverpool has caught up with them and they need this international break to regroup. After beating Spurs, PSG, and Southampton, Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool couldn’t beat Chelsea and lost a heartbreaker at Napoli. It doesn’t help that the Reds have one of their biggest games of the season now after playing three matches in eight days. It also doesn’t help that Naby Keita came off injured in Italy.
Last Matches: W 2-0 vs. Brighton & W 2-1 at. Hoffenheim
Next Match: SUN at. Liverpool
The champions are back on top of the power rankings after claiming the top spot in the table and being the only English club to win in the Champions League this week. Things are clicking for Manchester City and they are feeling great going into their match with Liverpool. In the four matches these two played last year, Liverpool outscored City 10-9. You know Sunday will have goals and be super dramatic.
