The final FPL Game Week going into and international break always seems to carry more significance for managers.

If you have a good week you can bask in the warm glow of a green arrow for 2 weeks, casually pondering you’re next move. However, if you have a bad week it can lead to 2 frustrating weeks, considering wildcards or points hits to rectify a squad that, in your mind, is clearly broken (even if it’s not).

I would advise caution if you do end up in the second camp. Sometimes you can make all the right decisions and just have some bad luck. For example, in GW4 of this year I managed a paltry 30 points!

However, I stuck to my plan, took a -4 to bring in Aguero and since then I’ve had 60 points or more every week and 3 consecutive green arrows. I understand the mindset behind a rage-induced wildcard and I’ve done it myself on multiple occasions, but if you can then I would leave it for a couple of days and come back to it with a clear head.

But before all of this, we actually need to play out GW8, with Man City vs. Liverpool providing the most interest for FPL managers. There are plenty of opportunities for points elsewhere, as Spurs welcome whipping boys Cardiff, Man United host Newcastle, while Chelsea and Arsenal travel to defensively naïve Southampton and Fulham, respectively.

Finally, don’t forget the early deadline this week! Brighton vs West Ham kicks off on Friday evening so the deadline is Friday 7pm GMT. Don’t leave your transfers until Saturday morning!
