The schedule is getting crammed for Premier League teams with Europe and Carabao Cup action. Here are the latest power rankings.

Last Match: L 1-3 at. Leicester City

Next Match: SAT vs. Tottenham

The Terriers drop to last place for the first time this season. This offense can’t score and the defense has slowly deteriorated every week. They likely won’t win their first game against Tottenham on Saturday and need a striker in January to have any hope of surviving.

Last Match: L 0-5 vs. Manchester City

Next Match: SUN vs. Burnley

It’s been a rough last three games for Cardiff. They gave up three to Arsenal then four to Chelsea and then five to Manchester City. I don’t think it’ll be six against Burnley in the Sunday game for matchday seven. The Bluebirds big three losses to top-six clubs put them tied on everything with Huddersfield including head-to-head. They play again on January 12th.

Last Match: D 0-0 at. Crystal Palace

Next Match: SAT vs. Leicester City

Newcastle goes up a spot because they got their second point of the season in a disappointing performance at Crystal Palace. The Eagles had chance after chance to win the game and Newcastle got a little luck. Rafa needs points soon or he will be on the hot seat with relegation a real possibility for the Magpies.

Last Matches: W 4-0 vs. Bournemouth & L 1-2 at. Burton Albion

Next Match: SUN at. Cardiff City

The Clarets finally won and impressed against Bournemouth. Ashley Barnes was sublime in the 4-0 victory at Turf Moor but Burnley went back down to Earth in a shocking 2-1 loss to Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup. This Sunday will be a good indication if Burnley’s win was a fluke or true signs of improvement. I think the former is more likely than the latter.

Last Matches: D 0-0 vs. Chelsea & W 8-0 vs. Macclesfield Town

Next Match: SAT vs. Manchester United

After losing four straight games to start the EPL season, West Ham has stayed unbeaten in their last three matches. A draw against Chelsea and scoring eight against Macclesfield is music to Hammer fans ears. A match at home against a down and out Manchester United could be the jolting leap up the table West Ham needs.
