English Premier League: Power Rankings after five matches
By Orri Benatar
Last Result: L 1-3 vs. West Ham United
Next Week: SUN at. Arsenal
The Toffees defensive chemistry has been lacking and it showed in the loss to West Ham. Luckily, Richarlison will return for Everton in the match against Arsenal on Sunday. The Brazillian scored twice in his first cap for Brazil and will try to continue this form with his new club. Some of the other new players like Andre Gomes and Yerry Mina haven’t seen the pitch too much.
Last Results: W 2-1 at. Watford & W 3-0 at. BSC Young Boys
Next Week: SAT vs. Wolves & TUE vs. Derby County
The Red Devils seem back and they are winning games. It is now three wins on the trot for Manchester United after beating Watford 2-1 at Vicarage Road and then going to Switzerland and getting three against Young Boys in the Champions League. Now comes the part of sustaining that for a lengthy period of time. Tests against Wolves and Derby (managed by Frank Lampard) will be tougher than we think.
Last Result: W 1-0 vs. Burnley
Next Week: SAT at. Manchester United & TUE vs. Leicester City
Wolves have two wins in a row and are being taken seriously. The newly-promoted side seems destined for one of the best seasons for a newly promoted team ever. These next two matches will either show off or diminish their skill and potential of being a top-ten team this season. They already got one point against a Manchester club. Why not another?
Last Result: W 4-2 vs. Leicester City
Next Week: SAT at. Burnley & TUE vs. Blackburn Rovers
The Cherries attack is ruthless and scoring lots of goals. Ryan Fraser’s brace led the way in the 4-2 win over Leicester and Fraser could have another big performance against bottom of the league Burnley. Joshua King and Callum Wilson can get some goals too and will need to stay healthy all season for Bournemouth to keep this pace up.
Last Results: L 1-2 vs. Liverpool & L 1-2 at. Internazionale
Next Week: SAT at. Brighton & WED vs. Watford
After winning three matches in a row, Tottenham has lost three matches in a row. Defeats to Watford, Liverpool and Inter Milan leave a lot of questions surrounding this Spurs team. Is World Cup fatigue still affecting them? Is Alli good enough right now? A little bit of everything is being discussed and Spurs need a pick me up win desperately.
