When the English Premier League announced its return to action – it did so in emphatic style. Think it’s safe to say… We know who took the crown for goal of the weekend.

Many goals conceded over last weekend. Three teams managed to go undone and kept their goalmouth goal free. Those teams, Manchester City, Crystal Palace, and Wolves.

Teams unable to stop scoring week in, week out? The champs come up again, along with Chelsea and a surprise package in Bournemouth. The Cherries took the spot prise for highest goal-scoring game of Matchday 5, while two clubs shared the dullest games of the weekend, ending 1-0, respectively.

The writing was on the wall from the first whistle of the weekend to the final one after Monday Night Football concluded. How Spurs and Liverpool kicked off proceedings at Wembley was exactly what we asked for – as the English Premier League returned.

In total Matchday 5 was gifted with 33 goals over the three days, taking the overall tally scored so far this season to a whopping 149 goals. WOW! The two clubs to thank for this mostly are none other than, Manchester City and log leaders, Chelsea. Both have scored 14 goals for the 2018/19 term.

An average of 2.8 goals a game will get you a title in this new footballing era we witnessing. Anyway… back to the top 5 goals of Matchday 5. An easier pick than usual, because the top picks were totally out of this world.

Here is the TTFC’s English Premier League goal of the season.
