Newcastle 1-2 Arsenal

Arsenal’s midfield was stellar in the Gunners 2-1 win at Newcastle to get their third straight win. After a first 45 minutes that was worth skipping. Granit Xhaka rifled a free kick into the top corner to score his fourth career goal for Arsenal. The clincher was a goal from Mesut Ozil who marked his 200th appearance with the winner. For the fourth time this season, Newcastle lose to a top-six side 2-1.

Despite losing their first two matches, Arsenal’s recent form has put them level on points with rivals Tottenham. A home match against Everton next Sunday will take place after the Gunners play Vorskla in their first Europa League match. Rafa Benitez and Newcastle will still seek their first win this season when they travel to Crystal Palace.
