All big clubs struggle to keep their best at bay when the club’s spinning down a downward spiral. Manchester United, out of the top-six clubs, is the club losing at life at the moment.

We’ve seen the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham lose magnificent players to bigger teams across Europe. Most notably, Barcelona and Real Madrid. The English Premier League has the talent and competitive nature to be rated as the best, however, players are lured by the beauty of Spain and always hurry there when the opportunity arises.

In recent history we saw Liverpool fall victim to this specific English team problem. One player who goes by the name of, Philippe Coutinho. He caused big headaches at the start of last season, making sure the January transfer window sees him out the door at Anfield.

Man United have always been threatened like their counterparts, but have influences such as deep pockets to rely on when been held at gun point. The last player, who looked sure to leave Old Trafford was David de Gea.

Real Madrid was the team knocking about three summers ago and was a handshake away from signing him. However, United tied the world class stopper down to a new longterm deal. Showing the difference between them and their long-standing rivals, Liverpool.

Times could be changing though

Taken from the DailyMail

“There was a lot of talk, but it was just like that, I’m under contract in Manchester.

“My future is currently in Manchester, I still have a contract, I’m playing there at the moment, but who knows what will happen in the next few months.”

Paul Pogba has been the player giving Jose grey hairs since returning from his World Cup glory. Speculations of the player taking leave from Old Trafford has been ripe and taken centre stage when talking Manchester United.

That, and his treatment by manager Jose Mourinho being labelled as the ‘scapegoat’ has also taken most of the headlines. Pogba was heavily linked with a return to the club where he had great success. Also the club he left United for when he was a teenager.

However, nothing materialised with Ronaldo stealing the move to Juventus over the World Cup winner. Moving on a few more days, weeks, and the team linked changed but the player stayed constant. Barcelona’s name was forefront in the closing days of the EPL window closing.

The most threatening criteria – the Spanish La Liga window was open beyond the start of the English Premier League. It was almost certain the player would leave, yet, he’s still in United’s colours and was handed the armband for a couple of stints.

Now, more than ever, does it seem that the January’s transfer window will be a testing time. More than what the summer window was because of the player recently talking out stating, “but who knows what will happen in the next few months”.

We, who follows the EPL, know all too well about these type of sayings in sticky situations. The relationship between Jose and Pogba appears to be beyond repair and a move is looking the mostly likely thing that will transpire from here on out after his words, the manager’s actions on the touchline, and Barcelona’s style of acquiring a player – never backing down until they get their man.
