Liverpool: The Reds without Lallana are still the Reds – No loss for Klopp
A blow for Liverpool once again brought upon them during an international break. Question to be asked really, will Klopp and Liverpool miss Adam Lallana?
Firstly, the Adam Lallana who is missing and missed by the public, is the Adam who either played his best football at Southampton. Or, the Lallana who spurred Liverpool on to their first Champions League since the 2014/15 edition.
Since suffering from a string of long spells on the sideline, Lallana hasn’t reached the same heights. No surprise that he has struggled to hit the ground running, as it’s difficult to come back strong when you in and out of fitness.
From being noticed as the main figure in the central area of the pitch, the Englishman faded out almost immediately. In the season of 2016/17, he featured a healthy amount of 31 times for the Reds. During this time Lallana racked up pretty assuring figures. Eight goals and seven assists.
Where it all started
Besides losing their most important player Philippe Coutinho, Klopp and Liverpool also lost one their other most important figures, Adam Lallana. From the stacked amount of 31 appearances the season prior to 2017/2018, Lallana only managed 14. Two starts and 12 occasions coming off from the bench.
This reduced his impact and use in the team. He went on to score no goals and assist nobody in the team. This stat was sure to change with him not joining the England squad for Russia 2018, meaning a full preseason was on the cards.
Unfortunately, he is repeating last season quite well
The midfielder was fit and ready to fight for his place as the English Premier League entered their first international break, after four game weeks took place. Liverpool has been one of the best teams since the new campaign commenced.
Lallana was a present image on the bench and looked ready to go. However, his only contribution to the Reds strong push was a foul committed in the only game he’s featured in against Crystal Palace.
Since his three-minute stint – the Englishman has been sighted by Southgate, met up with the national squad, then was sent home after picking up another injury. Nevertheless, the player came out with some positive talks after it was revealed he will predictably be missed for no longer than a month.
The answer to the question, ‘will Klopp and Liverpool miss Adam Lallana’.
No, he wont be missed! Any player with his qualities will always be a missing asset, usually. Although, taking last season’s showing and this season start by Liverpool into consideration… Lallana’s presence is sadly not missed.
With Naby Keita and Fabinho arriving this season and the likes of Milner playing like his 18-years-old, his chances of game time have started eliminating itself. Liverpool don’t miss him and have proven it on many occasions.
