Iceland v Belgium (TUE 9/11)

UEFA Nations League – Reykjavik – 2:45 pm EST – ESPN+

Before Spain and Croatia slug it out, Iceland will play their second Nations League match when they host World Cup bronze medalists Belgium on Tuesday. Roberto Martinez is bringing in the big guns. Hazard, Lukaku, Courtois and more will feature for the Red Devils. Without Kevin De Bruyne, Martinez could give game time to Youri Tielemans and Thorgan Hazard.

The hosts of this match are in a unique position in world football. After a great Euros in France, Iceland was poor in Russia for their first World Cup. With Switzerland as the third team in their group, Iceland is in danger of being relegated to League B. The Vikings place on the European pedestal will be determined in the next few months.

USA v Mexico (TUE 9/11)

Friendly – Nashville – 9:10 pm EST – ESPN

The Stars and Stripes are bringing in a young squad for their friendly matches. After a MetLife Stadium meeting with Brazil, the United States will host arch-rivals Mexico in the 69th meeting of the fiercest rivalry in CONCACAF. The match will be an emotional one at Nissan Stadium as the nation commemorates the 17th anniversary of the attacks of September 11th, 2001.

The soccer will be important too as the US is in a massive transition period. Christian Pulisic and Timothy Weah are the future of this team with Zack Steffen, Weston McKennie, and Cameron Carter-Vickers preparing to become regular starters. The results aren’t make or break for the U.S., but they will want revenge on El Tri. The last match in the States between these two sides was in Columbus for qualifying, when Mexico broke Dos a cero and beat the US.
