When this footballer’s name gets brought up, social media seesaw’s with opinions. Hate it or love it – Henderson has been awarded a new contract.

Normally it takes a genius tweet, or a nostalgic saying that gets your twitter fingers and keyboard heroes going. However, with this player, he needs only to sign a new contract, or make the England national team and he can divide a world into two parts.

In a world where Liverpool sits at the top of the English Premier League table and have everything to be grateful for after a tremendous start – their fans still find time to debate about a contract renewal for Jordan Henderson.

Strange doesn’t even begin to describe it.

The Liverpool skipper has been gifted with a new four deal, keeping him at the club till the year, 2023. Happy days for him and the boss, Jurgen Klopp. Although they both are happy about it, it doesn’t seem to be enough for a select few.

Klopp’s happy words…

"“Jordan embodies entirely what it means to be a Liverpool player in this modern era of football.“You can tell through his actions on and off the pitch he treats representing our badge and our shirt as a privilege.“He takes nothing for granted and strives to learn and be better for his team at all times.”"

This is enough to make you close the trap. Unfortunately, bugs and flies still get through the gaps. I feel the manager is on the button with what is being said here and many should take note.

During a time where Liverpool have changed their ways and their personnel, the Englishman finds himself a constant in Klopp’s plan. If not for the problematic injuries, hampering his career on detrimental occasions – we’d witness a more consistent Henderson.

Haters, hating hard

His words confirm the manager’s words

"“I’m very happy to have signed a new contract for a long period of time.“I’m absolutely delighted.“I’m so privileged to have been a part of this club for so long, and hopefully even longer now.”“I feel it’s been a progressive journey for me throughout my time here and one I’ve enjoyed so much.“There is no other place in the world I would rather play football. I want to be here for as long as I can be.”"

A player surely relishing the idea of being a lifelong Liverpool player, while enjoying his time at Anfield. He’s had many ups and downs, with the regular rounds of criticism come his way. If Jordan Henderson was a punching bag, the bag would be leaking sand because of all the knocks the midfielder takes.

One thing that stands out above most – his upped his game and has certainly played above all the hate. Proving to be an intricate and vital part to Gareth Southgate’s success during their fruitful World Cup run and Liverpool’s success in their Champions League run under Klopp.

Hazard can hit new heights under Sarri. dark. Next

Nothing suggests he shouldn’t be rewarded with a new contract to keep at Anfield for the rest of his career maybe.

A trophy is the only thing eluding the Englishman and now will be the time he will have to lead Liverpool to one. Maybe this will be the only way to prove his worth to those questioning his ability and contract extension.
