English Premier League: Matchday Three Saturday Roundup
By Zaph Hutson
Southampton 1-2 Leicester City
This was yet another game affected by a red card. In different parts of the match it seemed that Southampton could come away with a point, or even three. The first goal came from an unlikely place – Southampton’s defender, Ryan Bertrand.
After a Leicester City goal from Demarai Gray, Southampton’s Pierre-Emile Højbjerg was sent off for diving in the box. This was a harsh yet warranted decision by the ref. Leicester won the three points in extra time with an exquisite bottom left-corner shot from far outside of the box by Harry Maguire.
The possession was shared quite evenly between the sides. It seemed that if it wasn’t for the carding, Southampton would have been a real threat to the Foxes. Leicester’s manager Claude Puel still has work to do to improve his side.
