The English Premier League Matchday 2 was one for the books. If this is the start, can you imagine what the end of the campaign is going to bring us?

There were two London derbies and a demonstration from the gold-medalists – providing an abundance of reasons why they leap years ahead of the rest of the league.

Only one game failed to deliver a goal across the weekend, with Crystal Palace and Liverpool ending the show in an action-filled duel in the first instalment of Monday Night Football.

35 goals over the weekend, while only four clubs were impenetrable – taking the total goals to 50 and we haven’t even reached Matchday 3. This, thanks to the best performers over the weekend, Manchester City, who ripped the Terriers apart with six goals put past them. It was a pretty sight for some and an ugly watch for others.

The most entertaining clashes of the weekend came late Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon, when London’s old foes met at Stamford Bridge for a new look standoff, while Manchester United travelled to a loss of three points. Both games were outstanding five-goal thrillers – it was a joy to witness.

What stands out the most from Matchday 2, the amount of breathtaking screamers. Some great team goals, goals well worked against the run of play, and most notably – the net-busters from distance.

However, five must be picked, and this is the The Top Flight Crews’ pick of the weekend and boy was it hard to choose a top five…
