English Premier League: The 2nd top-6 battle as Chelsea entertain Arsenal
Two top-six battles for the Gunners in as many weeks. A major adjustment is needed from the visitors and Sarri’s men must continue on their three goal spree.
Matchday two and Arsenal is already in the running to be two title contenders down. Last week’s battle a far greater one than this. However, having to recover against a team strutting their stuff after a great opening day victory, will be an uphill climb for Unai and the Gunners.
The Gunners were crippled by bad team selection and were taking to the cleaners for it. To me, this is part of the teething phase and is more than expected. One must always remember it’s a new manager and a host of new personnel on the roster.
Another factor making this clash that extra bit special and welcomed, both teams have new ways and both are in search of their old top-four slots, looking for Champions League football. This gives the London clash a fresh edge, one that’s hard to establish a winner from.
Chelsea today
Chelsea had fun in their travels when they beat Huddersfield by three goals to no answer. It was the prefect welcome for all new in Blue.
The test, not of high quality considering the Terriers are one of the teams likely to be relegated after the season concludes. But this one sure to give them the awaking needed. The Stamford Bridge side comes with a lot more ammo to the standoff. Hazard is back and looks fresh – with other World Cup stars ready to match Arsenal’s asking.
Sarri spoke of the importance of Jorginho and that he is the main piece to his entire Chelsea puzzle at the Bridge. Many questions this. However, he has the Sarri blueprint embed in his brain. If he ticks, Chelsea will tick. Hazard could also want to play above this Sarri statement. If so, the manager has create the perfect atmosphere before kickoff today.
Arsenal today
Unai and the Gunners need only to change a couple of names in the starting eleven. Last week’s misfire was the beat of Sunday and everybody heard about it. It wasn’t a disgustingly poor display, but it was a display that could use a lot of improvements.
The personnel must suit the style of play, as the saying goes. This was the key problem, along with leaving a potential golden boot on the bench. It will be a mouth-watering trip to see both Arsenal’s hit-men take to the pitch, side-by-side.
Another feature who people have been waiting to see is the inclusion of Lucas Torreira. The holding midfielder is wanted over blunder boy, Granit Xhaka. Both, he and Matteo Guendouzi are expected to start this evening.
Stamford Bridge is one of the few stadiums lucky enough to get a top-six battle this early in the season. Hopefully, we have a goal-filled fixture by the boys in London.
